DIRECTION FOR TODAY'S YOUTH

Whether I see it on the street, hear it on the radio, or read it in books, I find today's young people looking for solutions to life's problems. They are looking for someplace to fit in.

I was recently listening to a radio show/help-line for teens. As I listened, my heart became burdened from what I heard. One young man was suicidal and needed a reason for living. Another one, a young wife, was involved in an abusive relationship; and two others were facing drug addictions. But, praise be to the most high, Christ offers hope for each one of them.

Today parents have a more-important responsibility than ever: they need to set a Godly example to their children. Ephesians 5:1-2 says, "Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love as Christ also has loved us and has given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma."

In turn, childre must honor their parents' example. Ephesians 6:1-3 says, "Children, obey your father and mother which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."

"Permissiveness doesn't work," says Dr. James Dobson in his book, DARE TO DISCIPLINE. Placing fewer restraints and limitations on behavior is a growing trend in the U.S., so kids and adults are uncertain as to what is morally right and wrong.

There is a war raging in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:11-13). As Christians, we need to fight for America's youth. We need to get back to the basics and get into God's Word. The Bible is the only true moral value manual.
