ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

"Have you heard?" Scott asked as I spoke to him on the phone.

"Yeah, I heard. They're taking down the manger scene."

"We've got to do something about this," he said.

Why is it that we respect the law of man over the Law of God? (Esther 3:8-11, Acts 16:19-24) Not enough politicians and government officials take Christianity seriously. They bend over backwards to please other minority groups because they know they'll fight back. The city of Cincinnati recently had to pay the KKK $46,000 in legal fees for censoring their display in a downtown square.

But not Christians. They know that Christians never fight back.

There comes a time when you must draw the line, take up your "armor", and defend your territory. And that's exactly what Christians need to do (Ephesians 6:11-13.)

In this instance, because the churches who had built the manger scenes contested the removal through legal channels, they were permitted to return it a week or two later. But they shouldn't have had to remove it in the first place.

What is Christmas? It's an international holiday celebrating the birth of Christ. Some people would defend the removal of the display since it may offend non-Christians. "What about Hannukah? What about Kwanzaa or Diwali?" they ask.

Hannukah is the Jewish celebration of religious freedom and Kwanzaa is the African equivalent to [America's] 4th of July. People have every right to celebrate their independence, but it's no substitute for Christmas. And Diwali is a Hindu light festival. These holidays have nothing to do with the birth of Christ except for the fact that they are celebrated during the same time of year.

And this is just one example of the government's attack on Christianity.

A Hawaiian court has mandated that same-sex marriages are legal. However, the Alliance for Traditional Marriage has appealed the ruling and a Constitutional Amendment defending traditional marriage is being pursued. Click here for more information.

Stores in San Francisco are currently selling "Trailer-Trash Barbie", "Hooker Barbie", and "Transvestite Barbie" to our country's children. Rev. Jerry Falwell wasn't kidding when he said that [militant] homosexuals had a recruitment agenda. They're after our children. Remember the "gay- rights parade" in 1992 when they stood outside the White House chanting, "Chelsea, Chelsea, give us Chelsea?"

Some schools in larger cities are teaching kindergarteners from texts such as "Daddy's Roommate" and "Heather Has Two Mommies". By the way, our local schools are being pressured to implement "The Rainbow Curriculum", a sex- education curriculum where the youth are taught homosexual values. This is the same curriculum that included the condom-distribution to children.

Is this what you want your kids to be taught? (See Leviticus 18:22,29; Revelation 21:8) Then help us stand against this blatant assault of Christian families and fight back! Don't take it lying down! (Psalm 119:115)

As Christians, we have rights, too. If you encounter any of these attacks on Christianity; do what the Norwood U.M., Central Christian, and other Marietta churches did. Contact a law agency and fight back.

These churches called The American Center for Law and Justice, P.O. Box 64429, Virginia Beach, VAA 23467. Another organization that is available to such cases is the Rutherford Institute in Charlottesille, VA.

Our problem is that Americans have forgotten the true meanings of the words and phrases we use. "Love" is now a synonym for "desire" instead of respect and devotion. "Marriage" now means "shacking-up" and Christmas is just another day off from work.

A recent Buckeye State Poll reported that 95 percent of those surveyed "believed in God", but only 29 percent attends church on a regular basis. Amazingly, the article is titled, "Poll: Ohioans Faithful to God". Sadly, "faithfulness" is now merely recognition of existence instead of honor and allegiance. After all, Satan himself believes that God exists (James 2:19). That doesn't make him "faithful" to God.

We can fight his trend. Through prayer, faithfulness, and hard work, we can restore this country to the majestic image our founding fathers once had (Psalm 106). In the meantime, write to your local newspaper, your congressman, your senator, and even the President. Let our leaders know we're not going to lie down and play dead (Judges 5:3).

Cammie did this by writing a letter to the editor of the local newspaper. We've reprinted it here as an example of how to fight the downward trend our country is taking. So onward, Christian soldiers! We've got a battle to fight! (I Kings 22:15)

One more thing: Regular readers of THE KRUSADE may have noticed a trend with the articles I have been writing. Someone recently told me, "Kevin, your articles seem to be awfully political. You need to lighten up."

I must confess, I have been writing a lot about political issues lately, but that's only because I see the horrendous political activities being done in our country and I want to do my part to correct them.

I had planned to write a nice, happy article for this month's issue, but when I heard about the Nativity controversy and the pending Rainbow Curriculum agenda, I had to address the issues. I guess I must have a lot of "fire and brimstone in my blood."

However, while there's a Hell to preach, there is also a Heaven. My New Year's Resolution is to make a point of proclaiming the Good News as well as the bad. (Mark 16:15-16)

It's summed up pretty well by the lyrics of our song, "Benediction."

They say bad news travels quickly / By now you've probably heard / There's a red moon a'rising / Just like it says in the Word / This is a sign of the End-times / But, child of God, do not fear / There is hope for tomorrow / 'Cause Jesus soon will be here. (Revelation 21:3-4)
